Walk With UsA passionate indigenous entrepreneur, proud whanau (family) member, Community Member
Michael Moka is the young and engaging founder of Indigenous Growth Limited – a new organisation with a quadruple bottom line - which feeds his passion to empower families to get themselves out of the poverty cycle. Building a strong foundation is the most powerful way of retaining long term growth.
Mike made a conscious decision to pursue his dedication to empower his family and families like his who were trapped in a poverty cycle - who work hard yet still can’t get directions out of this cycle. Since 2005 he chose a specialised path dedicated to this goal of serving his family and families like his - taking, creating and making the most of all opportunities with his purpose being his decision making.
Indigenous Growth is taking a culturally diverse approach. Building our people from the grass roots level to provide a more diverse and profitable culture for all organisations.
He holds a number of governance and advisory roles for Whanau Organisations, Charities, Learning Institutions and Not for Profit organisations
Throughout her long-lasting career in the government sector, Arama has experienced high levels of success from the outset. From being the first remote schools’ teacher to be awarded Teacher of Exemplary Practice status, to being the youngest principal in the region at the age of 24. Much of her wisdom and working knowledge on how to navigate complex environments has been gained by spending the past 20 years living in remote Aboriginal communities walking alongside Aboriginal people.
Her lived experience has guided her into transformational leadership with principles which are firmly rooted in understanding that positive action and results across cultures, are unlikely to occur if a mutually satisfactory relationship between stakeholders are not created and maintained.
As the Director of Walk Together NZ she facilitates groups from different cultures to upgrade their belief systems so that a collective mindset for the purpose of strategic direction is achieved. During this work, knowledge and skills of all cultures are brought to the surface enabling people to walk alongside each other strategically and creatively to bring about change they can sustain.
Arama now lives back in West Auckland with her son Marley and in her down time enjoys solitude through art, music and connecting with nature.
